In just a few years, the Düsseldorf-based startup Cognigy has developed into one of the leading providers of generative and dialogue-based AI, showcasing the potential of young tech companies in NRW. Now, the US group Nice is set to acquire the company for a record price, with the deal expected to close at the end of 2025. This transaction, worth around 955 million dollars, is the largest ever in the European AI market.

Cognigy offers companies an AI-supported platform. This enables more efficient communication with customers through intelligent voice and chatbots, also known as AI agents. With offices in Europe, Asia, Australia and the USA, the startup has a broad international presence. Its existing operational structure, which employs around 300 people, will remain in place following the deal with Nice.

Nice offers technologies for cybersecurity, data analysis, and digital customer contact. Through this acquisition, Nice is adding Cognigy's AI technologies to its existing portfolio, while also raising the international profile of technology from NRW.
