The ASEAN countries are among the world's most dynamic growth regions. Their economic relations with Germany are becoming increasingly important. The ASEAN Service Desk is dedicated to strengthening economic ties between NRW and the ASEAN countries.

This initiative began with the inaugural virtual NRW-ASEAN Summit in 2022, bringing together stakeholders from business, government and innovation sectors to explore collaborative opportunities. Building on this kick-off, delegation trips to Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand facilitated direct engagement and the development of new business pathways.

A major milestone was reached at the NRW-ASEAN Summit 2023 in Gelsenkirchen, where a Joint Workplan Agreement with Enterprise Singapore was signed – a commitment to deepen collaboration between the two regions as innovation hubs. Another initiative is the NRW-Singapore Open Innovation Call, connecting startups and companies from NRW and Singapore to foster innovative solutions and forge cross-border partnerships in key industries. This was launched in collaboration with the project partner Stratosfare.

As a result of strategic networking, targeted initiatives and collaborative platforms, the ASEAN Service Desk serves as contact point for strategic entry in NRW, building a robust economic bridge between NRW and Southeast Asia.
