Hitachi Energy Germany intends to continue growing at its traditional location in NRW: the international energy company has had a production site in Bad Honnef since 1906. Hitachi Energy is now expanding the power transformer factory with an investment of more than 30 million euros. Transformers are essential for converting electricity from renewable energy sources to the required grid voltage, in particular as part of the energy transition.

Hitachi Energy is responding to growing demand by significantly expanding its production capacity. The modernized plant will cover an area of 15,000 square meters. Work is scheduled to be completed in 2026. Up to 100 new jobs will be created in the region in the long term.

Norbert Beatrix, Head of the Transformers Business Unit in Europe at Hitachi Energy, explains: "The Bad Honnef factory is an example of our commitment to rapidly expand our global presence and capacity to meet the growing demand resulting from the energy transition." The company also intends to make further investments in its other European sites in the future
