Henkel, one of the world's leading manufacturers of consumer goods and adhesives, has opened a new Battery Engineering Center in Düsseldorf. The aim is to drive forward the development and production of battery materials and systems for electric vehicles. In this way, Henkel intends to establish the Adhesive Technologies business unit as a design and innovation partner for automotive manufacturers and battery producers.

The Battery Engineering Center is part of Henkel's Inspiration Center, an international innovation and customer center, and comprises two new facilities: the Battery Application Center, which opened in August 2023, and the Battery Test Center, which will be operational in 2024. The battery experts will focus on key innovation areas such as safety, sustainability, thermal management, integrated battery design and battery cell technology. Collaborations with companies such as AVL of Austria and Atlas Copco of Sweden will give the Battery Engineering Center access to innovative tools and equipment.

With the opening of the center, Henkel is advancing the establishment of a global battery technology network. Other sites are planned in the USA and China. The network will foster collaboration between Henkel's global teams and with other companies such as OEMs and battery manufacturers.
