The automotive group is building a new software development center for its 700 Bochum-based employees; further personnel growth is planned.

The Bochum Technology Campus Mark 51°7 has been selected: On the former Opel premises, the VW subsidiary Volkswagen Infotainment wants to build its new development center, which will cover more than 20,000 square meters and bring all employees together under one roof. The company already employs 700 people at three locations in Bochum, including the Ruhr University campus. "Our new development center in Bochum represents a strong commitment to the Ruhr research and science region," explains Tobias Nadjib, Managing Director of Volkswagen Infotainment.

One of the specialist fields of Volkswagen Infotainment is connecting vehicles to each other and to the environment. The company develops software solutions and digital components, such as for remote control of certain vehicle functions via smartphone or improved traffic guidance. The new location will have an engineering and development center, a vehicle test hall and an audio laboratory. "We are thus creating the best possible conditions for continuing to develop digital high-tech products for the car of the future," says Bernhard Krausse, Spokesman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Infotainment.
