The venture capitalist from Los Angeles has chosen Cologne as its first location outside the USA.

Whether gaming, music streaming or augmented reality: 5G technologies offer new opportunities, especially in the media and entertainment sectors. A new accelerator from Quake Capital aims to help young start-ups and their ideas in exactly this area to get started. Together with Deutsche Telekom's hub:raum, the American company is launching its special support program from Cologne.

When choosing North Rhine-Westphalia as a location, the high density of companies from the 5G and telecommunications sector was a decisive factor: "20 of the 50 highest-grossing German companies have their headquarters in North Rhine-Westphalia – accordingly, there is great potential here to hook up technological innovations with a dynamic economic environment," says Priscilla Pesci, co-founder and Global Managing Partner Europe at Quake Europe.

In order to connect Quake Europe optimally with the relevant companies in Germany, the company was in close contact with NRW.INVEST. "With our office in California, we were able to provide the company with optimal support in settling in the region and to inspire enthusiasm for our location," says Petra Wassner, CEO of NRW.INVEST. Among the first financing partners are the media group RTL, the international business law firm DWF and the e-sports organization SK Gaming.
