Opening of the Global Entrepreneurship Centre in Meerbusch

The new business incubator promotes solutions from start-ups for climate protection.

Under the motto "Founding Spirit for a Better World," the Global Entrepreneurship Centre (GEC) was opened in the Meerbusch industrial park in mid-October. The globally active innovation center supports start-ups that contribute to sustainability and climate protection. Initially, up to 20 start-ups from the construction and housing, textiles, mobility, and agriculture and food sectors will be supported – for example with venture capital, assistance with approval procedures, extensive consulting services and laboratory access. With several of them settling, up to 3,000 new jobs could be created in the region by 2030.

NRW Economics Minister Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart: "To achieve climate neutrality by 2045, we need bright minds and new ideas. This will only be possible through innovation. And we are showing others that it can also be done sustainably." The GEC is being funded to the tune of 9.9 million euros from the STARK program of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and with funds from the Rhine district of Neuss as part of the Sofortprogramm Plus (Immediate Plus Program) for the Rhenish mining region.
