North Rhine-Westphalia honors investors from China, Japan and Turkey with the NRW.INVEST AWARD 2015

Düsseldorf. Three investors from China, Japan and Turkey were honored today with the NRW.INVEST AWARD for their outstanding investments. The award, which is presented by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the state-owned economic development agency NRW.INVEST, goes to the Japanese company Cyberdyne Care Robotics, headquartered in Bochum, the Turkish nut specialist Tad?m with its settlement in Emsdetten in the Münsterland region, and the Chinese carbide manufacturer ZCC Cutting Tools Europe with its branch in Düsseldorf.

"As a leading industrial location in Germany with huge market potential in the middle of Europe, we are a magnet for international investors. They bring innovation and dynamism to North-Rhine Westphalia. We wish to honor these achievements with the NRW.INVEST AWARD," said Economics Minister Garrelt Duin. A total of more than 18,000 foreign companies are at home in North Rhine-Westphalia. Many of them control their German or European operations from here. Foreign companies in the state employ approximately 859,000 people.

"This year the NRW.INVEST AWARD is characterized by Asian winners. This is also reflected in the current settlement balance: China, Turkey and Japan were among the top 5 investor countries in NRW in 2014," explained Petra Wassner, CEO of NRW.INVEST. In 2014, NRW registered 330 new settlements and expansion investments by foreign companies, with approximately 4,300 new jobs being created. "This is an exceptionally good result and a testament to our successful settlement strategy," said Wassner.

"North Rhine-Westphalia is the most attractive location for foreign investors in Europe. We are honoring the three winners of the NRW.INVEST AWARD 2015 on behalf of the wide range of exciting investments that enrich our state," underlined Dr. Herbert Jakoby, CEO of NRW.INVEST.

This year's awards go to:

Cyberdyne Care Robotics: From its base in Bochum the German-Japanese joint venture Cyberdyne Care Robotics brings nerve-controlled robotic systems for movement therapy on to the German healthcare market. The Japanese parent company Cyberdyne Inc. developed the robot suit HAL, which restores partial mobility to people with limited mobility and incomplete paraplegia. Together with the University Hospital Bergmannsheil and the Center for Neurorobotic Movement Training, Cyberdyne Care Robotics has been working since 2011 on the development of the suit and seeks in particular to engage in joint ventures in the hospital segment. In 2013, HAL received CE certification from TÜV Rheinland.

Tad?m: The Turkish nut specialist Tad?m is currently investing around ten million euros in its new European headquarters in Emsdetten. An ultra-modern plant with production, packaging and logistics systems is to be created on an area of nearly 7,000 square meters. Founded in 1971, the Turkish family business specializes in the processing and packaging of a wide variety of nuts and dried fruit. In the future, Tad?m will distribute its complete range to Europe, the United States and Canada from the Münsterland region. The company is initially creating 30 new jobs in NRW, with 80 more planned.

ZCC Cutting Tools Europe: The Chinese medium-sized enterprise ZCC Cutting Tools Europe has already been based in Düsseldorf with its European sales headquarters since 2003. The parent company from the Chinese province of Hunan is one of the world's leading carbide manufacturers. The product range includes indexable inserts, solid carbide tools, tool holders and millings bodies. From Düsseldorf the German branch serves customers on the entire European continent, as well as in Russia and Turkey. In 2013, it generated around 40 million euros in sales. Since 2010, the company has created ten new jobs every year. ZCC currently has plans to construct a technology center in the state capital.
