This year, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia again presented itself with a joint stand at the EXPO REAL trade fair for commercial real estate in Munich. The LogistikCluster NRW and NRW.INVEST declared the city of Mönchengladbach to be the best logistics location.
State Secretary Christoph Dammermann from the NRW Ministry of Economic Affairs presented the award to Dr. Ulrich Schückhaus, Managing Director of WFMG – Business Development Corporation Mönchengladbach. Dammermann emphasized: "Due to its outstanding commitment, Mönchengladbach has promoted the positive image of the entire logistics location NRW. In particular, the good cooperation between politics and industry at a local level has contributed a great deal to the successful new settlements."
In addition to general industry indicators, this year's evaluation of applicants focused on the best concepts for dealing with the shortage of skilled workers in logistics. The city of Mönchengladbach convinced the jury of experts with the most coherent concept for combating the shortage of skilled workers. "In recent years, Mönchengladbach has marketed itself consistently and very successfully as a logistics location. The settlements of Zalando, Primark, Vanderlande, DHL and many others speak for themselves," said Petra Wassner, CEO of NRW.INVEST, explaining the selection. "In a joint effort, all those involved have done a great deal to ensure that the personnel requirements have been met to the satisfaction of the investors."
At EXPO REAL, NRW.INVEST, together with its partners NRW.URBAN, NRW.BANK, Bau- und Liegenschaftsbetrieb NRW, VdW Rheinland Westfalen and the Chamber of Architects of NRW, presented model projects of urban and district development, real estate management and architecture in NRW.
