Lenze invests 50 million euros in Extertal Mechatronics Campus

Together with NRW Minister President Armin Laschet, the automation specialist Lenze in Extertal has laid the foundation stone for the new Mechatronic Competence Campus (MCC). It is scheduled to go into operation at the beginning of 2020.

The new ultra-modern development and production site is designed to ensure even closer cooperation across departments from product development through prototypes to production readiness. "We will ensure that communication barriers are dismantled and that the various disciplines can work together easily," emphasized Dr. Hans-Peter Mertens, Managing Director of Lenze Operations GmbH.

At around 50 million euros, the campus is the largest single investment in the company's 70-year history. A total of 30,000 square meters will provide space for development, production, service and storage. The new building alone covers 7,500 square meters. Around 800 employees, previously spread over three separate locations in Extertal, will work here.

"With the new campus, we are creating an important reference project for future cooperation," explained Christian Wendler, CEO of Lenze. In the future, interdisciplinary teams will work together in numerous open spaces in Extertal to "develop the best mechatronic solutions and services" for customers worldwide
