The metropolitan region impresses with its good infrastructure, attractive customers and a wide selection of qualified specialists and talents.
The Ruhr region is attracting more and more entrepreneurs. In an interview with the news portal of the Internet start-up scene, deutsche-startups.de, founder of the Bochum cyber security start-up Physec Heiko Koepke explains why. Physec, a spin-off of the Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security (HGI) at the Ruhr University Bochum, now employs more than 30 people. The company specializes in applied cryptography in the Internet of Things (IoT). The focus is on security and connectivity concepts. "The Ruhr region is the perfect location in Germany for start-ups, especially in the B2B sector," says Koepke in the interview. "We have everything we need for a successful ecosystem: good infrastructure, lots of potential customers, corporations and medium-sized businesses, very well trained people, a strategically optimal location for the European market: Amsterdam, London, Paris, affordable spaces – commercial and private – and the right mindset".
