Wabtec, the American rail industry supplier, is building an innovative production hall in NRW.

The globally active rail industry supplier Wabtec Cooperation is heading to NRW: In addition to an office complex, a plant for the development, production and maintenance of brake equipment for rail vehicles is being built on an area of around 34,000 square meters. According to the company, the factory will be built according to a special sustainability concept. This includes photovoltaic systems, charging stations for electric cars, intelligent lighting control and the use of geothermal heating.

"This new facility gives us the space to create the highest productivity and quality standards as well as a future-oriented working environment for our employees. It is also centrally located near the Bochum universities with their large talent pool of engineers," says Dr. Christopher Antes, President of Wabtec Transit Brakes & Safety.

The building project is supported by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), an NGO that develops and promotes ways and solutions for sustainable building. The production hall is scheduled for completion this year.
