The leading telecommunications logistics company Nordfrost is opening a warehouse in Herne and creating 200 jobs for the region in the long term.

The construction period lasted 17 months – now Germany's most advanced deep-freeze warehouse is located in Herne near the A42 freeway. The warehouse, which consists of a conventional and an automated section, has 70,000 pallet spaces. Deep-freeze logistics company Nordfrost wants to place the new location at the center of its transport network in future. From Herne, products will be distributed in North Rhine-Westphalia and the national and international flows of goods will be bundled here.

With its fully automated high-bay warehouse and the incorporated automatic picking system, the new Nordfrost warehouse is the only of its kind in Germany. The building was constructed on an old mine site: "Where coal was once mined, a service provider for the food industry has now settled which has proven to be particularly crisis-proof, especially in these times. An international flagship project of the renowned German food logistics company, which will bring 200 new jobs to Herne," says a delighted Mayor Dr. Frank Dudda.

In addition to the new warehouse in Herne, Nordfrost has twelve other logistics locations in NRW and is the German market leader for deep-freeze logistics.
