The Dutch online supermarket Picnic has built a new fulfillment center in record time.
In these times of contact bans, e-commerce with food is becoming an important source of supply. With a new fulfilment center in Herne, the Dutch online supermarket Picnic is reacting to the changed situation. The 15,000 square meter center was built in an expedited procedure with the support of the NRW state government and the city of Herne.
Up to 1,000 employees will work at the new location in Herne in the future. In addition, the Dutch company already operates a center in Viersen and would like to grow further in the future: "With the significantly increased capacities, we will be able to supply more customers in our current supply areas and implement the opening of further locations in North Rhine-Westphalia in the near future," explains Frederic Knaudt from the founding team of Picnic Germany.
