Together with its Chinese partners, Duisburg Port is facilitating the import of protective clothing and donating medical products to the value of 50,000 euros.
"With our know-how we want to contribute to helping people in the facilities in North Rhine-Westphalia quickly and unbureaucratically," says duisport CEO Erich Staake. Together with its Chinese partners, the Port of Duisburg is currently making every effort to transport urgently needed protective clothing from Asia to the state. In addition to cooperation with colleagues from the airfreight sector, rail transport is also to be examined. Finally, the port has a direct rail link to China via the new Silk Road.
With the support of the duisport team, medical goods worth around one million euros have already been handed over to hospitals and social institutions in NRW – a key aid measure, as many deliveries simply do not reach their destinations at present. With its many years of experience, the Port of Duisburg is trying to prevent this: "The duisport team has contributed its excellent logistics network in order to support the state government in bringing the urgently needed materials to North Rhine-Westphalia as quickly as possible", says a grateful Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, Minister for Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
In addition, the duisport Group is donating protective clothing worth 50,000 euros to medical facilities in the region. Some of the products have already been delivered to the Evangelisches Klinikum Niederrhein in Duisburg Fahrn.
