3M plant in Hilden to be expanded at a cost of 80 million euros

The US multi-tech group invests in two new production lines for film production.

Two new production lines for film production and coating worth 80 million euros have been commissioned at the 3M plant in Hilden, Germany. The lines are highly automated and can produce up to five million square meters of film per year. The multi-million euro expansion investment makes this manufacturing facility the multi-tech company's largest in Europe and brings 3M closer to its long-term goals such as accelerated digitalization, implementation of sustainable solutions and operations, and expanded infrastructure. In addition, around 50 new jobs have been created in production and development.

"The investment in the Hilden site also underscores our intention to serve the global market from the heart of Europe," said Yvonne Mitchell, Vice President Global Lean Value Stream, 3M Commercial Solutions Division.
