Singapore is one of NRW's most important economic partners within the ASEAN region. For this reason, both countries signed a "Joint Workplan Agreement" in April 2023 to intensify cooperation. As part of this, Singapore's economic development agency Enterprise Singapore and NRW.Global Business, together with partners from NRW, are now launching an "Open Innovation Call" for startups and SMEs.

In this format, companies in NRW looking for innovative solutions to a technological challenge in their company can issue a call in the form of a problem statement. The startups from Singapore then have the opportunity to submit their individual solution proposals. In this way, NRW companies benefit from a larger pool of ideas and international innovation. The focus is on sectors such as advanced manufacturing, greentech, renewable energies and ICT/digitalization.

The Open Innovation Call also serves to foster international collaboration. Singapore is a major logistics hub for global trade and a high-tech innovation powerhouse with a vibrant business and research community.

Partners of the NRW-Singapore Open Innovation Call are STRATOSFARE, the Chambers of Industry and Commerce and the Digital Hubs in North Rhine-Westphalia, led by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for North Westphalia as the focal chamber for Singapore and the Digital Hub münsterLAND, as well as the Business Metropole Ruhr.

To participate, interested parties should submit their problem statement via a form by email to innovation@nrwglobalbusiness.com by September 25, 2023. Further information is available on the NRW.Global Business website.
