The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is one of the world's most rapidly growing regions, and it is becoming increasingly important to the German economy. NRW aims to leverage this potential by strengthening its presence in Southeast Asia. In May 2025, NRW.Global Business opened the ASEAN Service Desk in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, setting an example for the intensification of economic relations between NRW and the region.

The ASEAN Service Desk is the first point of contact for companies and potential investors. Here they receive direct local support: from comprehensive information about NRW as a business location and investment conditions to practical assistance with specific relocation projects.

Jan Noether, Executive Director of the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasizes the added value for the ASEAN countries: "NRW offers a wide range of opportunities for companies from the ASEAN region and the new service desk will make a significant contribution to facilitating market access and further deepening relations."

At the same time, the ASEAN Service Desk in Southeast Asia increases NRW's visibility as an innovative and attractive business location and offers new opportunities to establish business contacts with innovative companies and institutions, says Felix Neugart, CEO of NRW.Global Business.
