Fressnapf, Europe's largest specialty chain for pet food and accessories, based in Krefeld, plans to establish its new location in Nörvenich as a central distribution hub for its European e-commerce business. With the construction of a logistics center, the company will create up to 800 new jobs in the Rhenish lignite mining area. The project developer COMPLEMUS Real Estate is developing the logistics center including an office building with an area of approximately 72,000 square meters.

NRW.Global Business supported the project in the initial phase of the location search. Nörvenich impressed with its optimal conditions: a large, immediately available commercial site in a fully developed location that guarantees optimal logistics and short delivery times within Germany and to neighboring countries. The Nörvenich Gypenbusch industrial park was developed by RWE Power at the request of and in close cooperation with the municipality of Nörvenich, from land regulation, planning and development to the marketing of the plots.

A large-scale photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof of the new facility, and the halls will be heated using modern heat pump technology. A green roof and rainwater infiltration are also planned. With this ecologically important project, the parties involved are making a sustainable contribution to structural change in the Rhenish lignite mining area.
