To date, TransTank operates 65 tanks with a capacity of 244,000 cubic meters in Gelsenkirchen's city harbor, where the company's German headquarters are also located. Capacities are now to be increased.

TransTank, a joint venture between BP Europa SE and Oiltanking Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, stores petrol and diesel fuel, heating oil and chemical products from the BP refineries in Horst and Scholven or loads them onto trains, barges and tank trucks. Other tasks include the maintenance and further development of plant components and the organization of safe work processes. Over the next three years, the company plans to invest a total of 45 million euros in further tanks, pipelines and a new train-loading system.

In addition to Gelsenkirchen, TransTank has further locations in Cologne, Gustavsburg, Kassel and Nuremberg.
