The Irish supplier of paper-based packaging solutions is expanding its plant in Brühl, North Rhine-Westphalia.

More capacity, more workplaces, more efficiency: With these goals in mind, Smurfit Kappa is undertaking extensive construction work at its plant in Brühl. In the coming years, the packaging expert intends to invest in particular in buildings and corrugated board machines. By mid-2023, more than 200 million square meters of corrugated board are to be produced annually in Brühl.  Smurfit Kappa intends to create around 50 new jobs with its multi-million euro investment.

The company, which has its roots in Ireland, is responding to the increased demand for paper packaging for online shipping and consumer goods: "We are convinced that these measures will meet our customers' requirements for high-quality packaging for the FMCG and online sectors. At the same time, we are proud to offer prospects as an important employer in the region," reports Andreas Driftmeyer, Regional General Manager of the Smurfit Kappa West region.
