Hannen & Stein is countering the supply bottlenecks for medical protective clothing with its own production.
For years, the North Rhine-Westphalian wholesaler Hannen & Stein has been supplying industry and trade with protective workwear such as respiratory masks, protective goggles and disposable gloves. However, due to the scarce availability of such products, the company has unexpectedly become a producer: "As we are experiencing an urgent demand for face protection articles, especially from hospitals and doctors' practices, we have developed a face protection shield which we manufacture by hand in our own factory", explains Managing Director Norbert Miethke.
The family business worked on the prototype for several days, and the first order has now been received: A large hospital in Krefeld has ordered 500 face visors. When treating corona patients or suspected cases, the visors protect the mouth, nose and eyes from droplet infections. Hannen & Stein has already ordered material for another 2,500 face visors and is in talks with clinics in Düsseldorf, Cologne and Bonn, among others.
