Intensive exchange at the Czech-Germany Economic Business Event

Health and medical technology: how NRW and the Czech Republic can benefit from one another in the health and medical technology sector. Experts from the German-Czech Chamber of Industry and Commerce and theCluster Innovative Medizin NRW gave an overview of both markets on 9 April 2018.

The Czech Republic is an important partner when it comes to healthcare. Rising expenditure for medical care in the state is also opening up new opportunities for companies in NRW. Each year, the Czech Republic imports medical technology worth over one billion euros. At the same time, Czech medical technology manufacturers and clinics are expanding and have an excellent reputation among German patients.

Successful practical examples demonstrate the opportunities available to companies in the Czech Republic and NRW. Cologne-based company P.J. Dahlhausen & Co. GmbH offered insight into its experience of working with the Czech Republic as a production location. The company Estheticon from Prague, Europe’s biggest online platform for plastic surgery, also reported on its plans to expand in NRW.

With 1.3 million employees, the healthcare industry employs more people than any other in NRW. With eight transplant centers (Aachen, Bad Oeynhausen, Bochum, Bonn, Düsseldorf, Essen, Cologne and Münster), NRW is home to the densest network of its kind in Germany. Medical technology in NRW is also significantly influenced by small and medium-sized companies which play a leading role at an international level. Some 700 companies employ around 12,500 employees in this sector.

The Czech-Germany Economic Business Event is a joint event run by the consulate of the Czech Republic in in Düsseldorf, the Dortmund Chamber of Industry and Commerce and NRW.INVEST.
