Industry 4.0 and the Düsseldorf/North Rhine-Westphalia location are of great interest in China

Guangzhou, 29 November 2016 – As part of the "Germany at its best: North Rhine-Westphalia" marketing campaign, the city of Düsseldorf and NRW.INVEST are now organizing a business forum entitled "The Digital Transformation in Germany's Industry 4.0: Innovative Solutions and Business Opportunities in Düsseldorf and North Rhine- Westphalia". With its combination of strong industrial structures and many innovative IT companies and research facilities, North Rhine-Westphalia is a key driver of Industry 4.0 and the associated digital transformation. Thanks to broad support from the federal and state governments in research and development in the area of Industry 4.0, the North Rhine-Westphalian economy has been able to launch important innovations, new procedures and processes over the last five years. North Rhine-Westphalia has strong sectors such as the energy industry, mechanical engineering, production technology, logistics, healthcare, the automotive industry and the information and telecommunications industry. These industries are currently working intensively on their digitization and networking of their industrial production. A dynamic and powerful ICT landscape supports the development of innovative solutions. The aim of the event is to win Chinese entrepreneurs for the future topic Industry 4.0 and the Düsseldorf/North Rhine-Westphalia location. The outstanding competences in the area of Industry 4.0 were the focus of presentations by the Chinese and North Rhine-Westphalian companies and institutions. The state capital of Düsseldorf is a hub for digital transformation as the leading location of the mobile telecommunications industry. Mayor Thomas Geisel: "In the state capital, together with suppliers and users, network operators such as Vodafone, Telekom and Telefonica form, as it were, the ecosystem in which new digitization technologies can be developed, tested and brought to market maturity. Chinese technology companies have been successfully involved in this digital cluster for around ten years. This makes Düsseldorf the ideal location for innovative Chinese companies in Europe."

For the expansion of Chinese industry in Europe, North Rhine-Westphalia and in particular Düsseldorf offer an ideal location for research and development, production and sales. "The Chinese economy is already strongly represented in North Rhine-Westphalia and in particular in Düsseldorf," explains Petra Wassner, CEO of NRW.INVEST. "New investment opportunities and possibilities for cooperation between North Rhine-Westphalian and Chinese companies and research facilities are emerging, particularly in the areas of digitalization of the economy." NRW also has a large number of startups in the digital economy. This is especially true for digital companies in the b2b sector. In order to grow with their innovative business models, these startups need partners and financiers. China is intensifying its efforts to become a knowledge-driven service society as part of the campaign "Made in China 2025". In this context, startups made in NRW can offer interesting investment opportunities to the Chinese economy.
