Eternit invests 50 million euros in Neubeckum

The fiber cement manufacturer Eternit, a subsidiary of the Belgian Etex Group, is building a new production plant for large-format façade panels at its Neubeckum site. The company is investing around 50 million euros in the project.

The new plant will also create 45 new jobs. Completion is scheduled for early 2020.

"We are particularly pleased that this new plant is being built at our Beckum site. For us it is more than just an additional production line, it is an independent production facility," is how Eternit plant manager Frank Reintjes assesses the plans. With the construction of the new production plant, the company is taking a major step towards the future and responding to growth potential.

Beckum's mayor Dr. Karl-Uwe Strothmann sees the investment as a clear signal to secure the location in the long term. So far, Eternit has 420 employees at the site. The new plant will produce polished Equitone façade panels, which previously could only be produced at Etex's Belgian plant in Kapelle-op-den-Bos. These façade panels can be mounted on wooden and aluminum substructures, among other things, and thus enable building shells and roof claddings to be made from a single cast.
