Sustainable construction is becoming increasingly important in Germany, and NRW is playing a central role in this development. Starting in 2026, the Austrian modular construction specialist Recon will produce modules for sustainable construction projects at the Soest site.
To this end, Recon is investing tens of millions of euros in the construction of a new production hall with an office wing. The 7,000-square-meter facility will be located in the Wasserfuhr industrial estate in Soest, creating up to 120 new jobs. Once it is completed, Recon will manufacture timber and steel modules for various construction projects.
These modules have a special feature: They can be dismantled, making them sustainable. Recon not only manufactures new modules but also refurbishes used units that are no longer needed. The company also relies on a sustainable concept for the new production hall: geothermal energy regulates heating and cooling, and an electricity storage system and photovoltaic system ensure the power supply, among other things.
