With the opening of an office in Essen, the Japanese company Innophys is taking a strategic step into Europe: The Tokyo-based exoskeleton manufacturer has established its first location outside Japan in NRW and plans to grow its European business from there with the support of NRW.Global Business.
Innophys plans to expand its sales activities across Europe from Essen. The company's suits are designed to relieve back and shoulder strain, thereby supporting employees in physically demanding professions, such as nursing, industry, and logistics. The technology has been researched at the University of Tokyo for over two decades, has won several awards, and does not require electricity, making the systems quick to deploy and mobile. In pilot and test phases in Essen, Essen University Hospital, among others, gave the technology a positive assessment.
For Essen and NRW, the new location strengthens international visibility, while Innophys benefits from the location advantages: "We made this location decision consciously. As a healthcare company, we see attractive sales opportunities in this region," said Innophys CEO Naotaka Otogawa.
