Cognizant Technology Solutions, which has been based in Duisburg at two locations since 2016, has 250 employees to date. Over the next few years, the IT service provider plans to increase the number of employees to between 500 and 800. Cognizant is a US-based global player. Founded in 1994, it concerns itself with the digital transformation of numerous industries. The focus of the nearly 275,000 specialists is on making customer business processes more transparent, faster, more efficient and therefore more optimal than before – for example at airlines, automobile manufacturers or film studios. This can include the user-friendliness of websites as well as intelligent master data maintenance for sales.
Cognizant's business principle is to be close to its customers and to have employees who are familiar with the local mentality. According to Managing Director Andreas Golze, Duisburg is an ideal location because all major NRW cities can be reached within an hour. "We want to keep growing in Duisburg", he announces: "And so we are looking for specialists for our internationally positioned and highly diversified team. Duisburg and the Ruhr region are also a melting pot of many cultures – and that suits us perfectly." Another advantage: Surrounded by a large number of universities, universities of applied sciences, research institutes and start-ups, the city on the Rhine and Ruhr is home to many smart minds in the fields of information technology, digitalization and engineering.
