Investment in the digital future: Indian IT group inaugurates Digital Innovation Center in Düsseldorf

Infosys, a leading IT service and consulting company based in Bangalore, India, today opened a digital innovation center in Düsseldorf in the presence of NRW Economics and Digital Affairs Minister Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart. As part of its European expansion program, the Group is relying on North Rhine-Westphalia as a digital location to support its customers in their digital transformation and with topics such as IoT, 5G, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Infosys plans to employ up to 300 people in Düsseldorf.

With the Digital Innovation Centre, the Group is also building a bridge between business and North Rhine-Westphalian educational institutions. Infosys entered into partnership agreements with Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences and WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management to organize joint training courses, research projects and scholarships to promote young digital talent. The state-owned economic development agency NRW.INVEST and the Office of Economic Development of the state capital Düsseldorf supported the company in its settlement and contact with the universities.

Minister Pinkwart: "We are delighted that Infosys has decided to set up its German business in Düsseldorf. The state government supports the digital transformation of the economy and wants to be a driving force for business start-ups and innovations in Germany. The willingness of the company to create jobs here, to promote digital talent and to work together with our leading academic institutions is a great boost for North Rhine-Westphalia as a digital location".

Pravin Rao, Chief Operating Officer of Infosys: "This Infosys investment in Germany is based on three things: our long-standing commitment to Europe, our commitment to training highly skilled workers, and our goal to develop groundbreaking innovations for our customers. Düsseldorf is a pioneer in technical innovation. Here, our company benefits from the availability of qualified specialist staff, high productivity and optimum social, legal and regulatory conditions. The new Innovation Center, coupled with our strategic university partnerships, will help us build the next generation of high-performing tech talent."

This, combined with the dense research and university landscape and an outstanding pool of talent, makes North Rhine-Westphalia an attractive innovation location for Indian companies. In the meantime, around 100 Indian companies have settled here, including IT giants such as Tata Consultancy, Tech Mahindra and Wipro Technologies."
