This summer, Dortmund will attract "Pokémon" fans from all over Europe to NRW for the second time. From 4 to 7 July, the "Pokémon Go Fest" – the first of its kind in a European city – will take place in Westfalenpark. Thousands of people will gather to play the popular smartphone game "Pokémon Go". The event is organized jointly with the game developer Niantic and is expected to be another mass spectacle. When the similar "Pokémon Go Safari Zone" was launched last summer, it was attended by more than 170,000 players from all over the world.

This time the city expects even more people to attend. Therefore, additional network capacities and temporary cell towers will be erected in and around Westfalenpark.

Important: People wishing to play in the park must register directly in the "Pokémon Go" app as from 13 May to purchase personalized tickets for the event. The number of tickets for 25 (10 am to 6 pm) to 35 euros (from 8 am) is limited, so a player can only buy one ticket for one day. During the "Pokémon Go Fest", however, players who cannot get tickets and are not directly on site can also take part in special challenges in order to work towards a common goal: Unlocking in-game rewards for all players around the world.
