Pharmaceutical giant from NRW increases nationwide capacity for Covid-19 diagnoses.
Several thousand tests per day are made possible by the 40 analysis devices that Bayer is providing in the fight against corona. While the company is setting up its own test laboratory in Berlin, three external, certified laboratories in NRW will use Bayer equipment. This is a commitment that Karl-Josef Laumann, Minister of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, also welcomes: "The Bayer Group is fulfilling its corporate responsibility and solidarity and thus exemplifies the values that have made North Rhine-Westphalia great.”
As further aid measures, Bayer is providing medical personnel, supporting clinics with respirators and breathing masks and producing disinfectants. The company has also announced that it is creating production facilities in Germany for the potential covid-19 active ingredient chloroquine. The drug, whose inhibitory effect is still being researched, is currently only produced in Pakistan
