The mail order company is expanding its network with two new logistics centers in Unna and Bielefeld.

An e-commerce giant continues to grow: Amazon is currently expanding its network of logistics and sorting centers throughout Germany – with a particular focus on North Rhine-Westphalia as a business location. With Unna and Bielefeld, the company presence is growing by two additional branches.

The new center in Unna-Königsborn will create 60 jobs and act as a distribution station between major locations such as Werne and Dortmund. In doing so, Amazon is consolidating its distribution network in the Rhine-Ruhr region, which is already one of the most important logistics centers in Europe.

The new building in Bielefeld is also on a smaller scale: Around 70 jobs are to be created on 5,000 square meters. The distribution center is being built in the Oldentrup district in the immediate vicinity of DHL's recently built transshipment center. With the smaller sites, Amazon is making its logistics network even tighter and shortening delivery times on the "last mile".
