800 million liters of milk soon to be produced in NRW

The dairy company Hochwald Foods GmbH is investing hundreds of millions of euros in the construction of a new plant in North Rhine-Westphalia. Building work is set to begin before the end of this year and production is scheduled to commence in 2021.

More than 250 jobs will be created in the medium term in Mechernich in the district of Euskirchen. Hochwald Foods GmbH, which produces long-life dairy products, will build a new production facility there on around 20 hectares of the new Obergartzem III industrial estate. "The location offers good conditions for our project. We want to build a modern and highly efficient plant on a greenfield site," explained Detlef Latka, Managing Director of Hochwald Foods GmbH.

At the new plant, the company will produce long-life dairy products. These include UHT milk, condensed milk and mixed milk drinks. Of Hochwald Foods' 3,000 member suppliers, around 1,250 farmers are located in the catchment area. They will also benefit from the new location.

NRW.INVEST supported and advised the dairy product producer in its search for a location in North Rhine-Westphalia. Hochwald Foods GmbH opted for Mechernich – thereby continuing the success story of the economic region NRW.
