Tropos Motors Europe to produce electric trucks in Herne

It has been official since mid-July: Tropos Motors Europe is locating in Herne and will produce electrically powered commercial vehicles there from January 2020. In doing so, the company is strengthening the automotive industry in the Ruhr Metropolis – future-oriented with e-mobility.

The focus is on utility, versatility and connectivity. The interchangeable bodies of the vehicles, which look like small trucks, can be exchanged within a few minutes. They offer a large loading volume as well as a high payload and towing capacity. The electric vehicles are designed primarily for short journeys in the city and can be used for a wide variety of applications and locations. Production is to be carried out by around 50 employees.

"A huge advantage of this region is that we can easily find extremely qualified, highly motivated employees who have outstanding experience because the automotive industry is already in place here. There are several universities in the immediate vicinity providing training for engineers that we can then hire. The Ruhr region is also one of the largest markets in Germany," says Gregory Hancke, CEO of the Mosolf Group.
