NRW.INVEST presents NRW as a digital location to the Chinese start-up scene

During a five-day roadshow through Beijing, Shenzhen and Hangzhou, NRW.INVEST and partners presented NRW as a digital location at Chinese accelerators and incubators.

The aim of the delegation trip was to intensify the contacts to the start-up ecosystem of China and in particular to stimulate interest among Chinese start-ups in the growth and internationalization phase for NRW. Therefore, in addition to seminars held in cooperation with local accelerators and incubators, the program also included talks with expansion-oriented start-ups and multipliers. NRW is particularly interested in acquiring companies from the B2B sector looking for business customers in the industrial sector.

As part of the "NRWorldWide-Pitch", Chinese companies gathered information about business opportunities in the digital location NRW. Representatives of NRW's start-up scene as well as Chinese start-ups presented their projects. For example, David M. Schulze of the start-up Eyedolon Pictureworks from Cologne reported on his collaboration with Chinese partners in the film and TV industry. Meike Dern of PIRATE.global presented the Cologne Pirate Summit, one of Europe's largest start-up conferences. Tingni Xu from the WZL machine-tool laboratory at RWTH Aachen University informed participants about the successful start-ups and spin-offs that were created at the university. For example, the Aachen-based electric car StreetScooter, which Deutsche Post is now producing in series, was developed at this institute. Eric Bai of ConductorVR gave an insight into the business world of an internationally successful Chinese start-up. The specialists in virtual reality technology in the real estate sector, founded in 2014, operate a branch office in Bonn in order to advance their operations in the European market from here.
