The Chinese tech firm LFP Lightweight Technology is conducting research into the production of ultra-lightweight auto parts in its new innovation office.
One of the business areas of the Chinese company is the development of lightweight solutions for tomorrow's electromobility. With the opening of the German branch the company has set itself the goal of working together with German partner institutions on innovative solutions in vehicle construction.
The opening ceremony of the new company branch was attended by corporate executives and politicians from China, as well as NRW Environment Minister Johannes Remmel and other high-ranking representatives from politics, economy and science in Germany. With this investment at the location, the Bonn-Rhine-Sieg region has the potential to become a new high-tech location in the south of North-Rhine Westphalia, Remmel remarked. Horst Becker, State Secretary at the Ministry of Environment, underlined the importance of the Chinese company for the state of NRW, adding that the future of mobility will also be shaped in the region as a consequence of the new settlement. Bad Honnef's mayor Otto Neuhoff welcomed the fact that his town is involved in an international joint venture "in an area that is so exciting and important for the future".
The tech firm is a subsidiary of the largest Chinese auto supplier Liaoyang FAW Plate. Over the next few years, the company plans to construct a hall in NRW where materials are tested and workpieces are produced as prototypes.
