An important intercontinental flight connection is returning to Düsseldorf Airport: The national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways, is once again flying from the NRW state capital after a pandemic-related break. From October 1, 2023, Etihad Airways will connect NRW with its international hub Abu Dhabi.

"We are pleased that we will soon be adding a third city to our route network in Germany and offering our passengers more connections between Abu Dhabi and Europe" explains Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways.

A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will be used on the Düsseldorf-Abu Dhabi route, offering passengers 28 seats in Business and 262 seats in Economy Class. To begin with, three weekly connections will be provided on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Lars Redeligx, CEO of Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH, underscores the importance of the route: "This reintroduction into Etihad Airways' route network is a strong signal for the positive development of our airport. Abu Dhabi is an attractive and important destination for both holidaymakers and business travelers. The now even better accessibility for guests from the United Arab Emirates is also a boost to North Rhine-Westphalia as a business location."
