The US denim leader Levi's is building its European distribution center in Dorsten, thereby creating 650 jobs.

Probably the best-known jeans in the world will in future be shipped to the whole of Europe from the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region: The traditional company Levi Strauss & Co. is building its European distribution center for clothing and accessories in Dorsten. Operations are scheduled to start at the end of 2023, and 650 jobs are to be created in the long term. With the support of NRW.Global Business, Levi's was able to find a suitable location for this project here.

In the operation and construction of the new building, the US company wants to observe high sustainability standards. This already played a role in the choice of location: The fashion brand opted for a former coal mine site in the Große Heide Wulfen industrial park. "In Dorsten, we are not using up any more open space; instead, we made a conscious decision to use a derelict industrial site for our new location. With this revitalization, we are making a further contribution to the issue of sustainability and the protection of the soil as a valuable resource," explains Torsten Müller of Levi Strauss & Co.

Levi's is one of the world's largest apparel brands and a world leader in denim products. The company was founded in San Francisco in 1853 by a Franconian immigrant, Levi Strauss, and today employs nearly 15,000 people. The European headquarters with 4,200 employees is located in Brussels.
